Case Worker CREST Prison Program - Sunshine Coast and South Burnett Regions

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced professional to work with people who have been incarcerated to assist them to successfully re-enter the community post-release from Qld Correctional Facilities.

The successful applicant can be based at one of 3 locations, Gympie - Sunshine Coast, Kingaroy - South Burnett or Maryborough - Fraser coast. Travel is a requirement of this role.  A vehicle for work purposes is provided.

Staff are required to work in the Maryborough Correctional Centre and in the community as part of a small team, covering areas in the South Burnett, Western Downs, North Coast (Sunshine Coast) and Fraser Coast region. The area of coverage will depend on your home base.

CREST workers work in the correctional facility to assist offenders to develop a comprehensive individualised re-entry plan, provide information and referrals to relevant services to meet their needs and work in partnership with approved providers to ensure success on release.  CREST workers also work with offenders on release in partnership with Qld Corrective Services - formerly Probation and Parole officers in the North Coast region, providing intensive support post release and up to 3 months case support, crisis support for eligible offenders and case management for complex needs clients.

The Person:

Applicants for this position will have extensive experience working with prison populations, excellent communication, assessment and case management skills, strong adherence to privacy rules, accurate, timely data entry and case notes and the ability to work collaboratively with all key stakeholders.

Tertiary qualifications in human services or similar are preferred, alongside additional skills training relevant to the target group.

Mandatory criminal history checks are conducted by Qld Corrective Services. Staff cannot commence in the role until this is completed.

Key Selection Criteria:

KSC1: Relevant qualifications, skills training and experience in working with people who have incarcerated in correctional facilities.

KSC2: Demonstrated ability in comprehensive assessment, case management and crisis support and a thorough understanding of the needs and issues for the target group, including socio-cultural factors, to successfully transition them back into the community.

KSC3: Demonstrated ability to engage successfully with all key stakeholders, including families.

KSC4: Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including facilitation and group training skills, use of contemporary IT systems, accurate record keeping, case notes and data entry.

KSC5: Current driver's licence.

All applicants must undergo a comprehensive criminal check and psychological screen, must hold a QLD blue card and NDIS screening checklist.

Remuneration commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Bridges provides services in a healthcare setting, therefore must comply with the Workers in a healthcare setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Direction, issued by Queensland Health on 10 November 2021, which requires that each worker must have received the prescribed number of COVID-19 vaccination doses by 15 December 2021.  Further restrictions in government facilities which require suppliers, contractors and visitors to be fully vaccinated would also apply to this role.
