Our history

The Haven is the home of our Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Service in Bundaberg and Gladstone.  What began 21 years ago as Bundaberg Clubhouse, continues to evolve and adapt to provide a contemporary service for people with serious mental illness.

Our approach

Our principles of practice focus on empowering individuals to lead their best lives, “doing with, not for”, working side by side in a structured program, focus on recovery and not dependency and above all, member involvement in how and what we do at The Haven.

Our service

The Haven offers a place to develop pre-vocational skills if wanting to go back to work or study, meet and make friends, socialise, learn new skills and get involved in a supportive and safe environment, free of stigma and judgement.

Staffed by people with lived experience of mental illness, suicide and adversity, we offer peer programs, meaningful work, social activities, life skills programs, music and art, community access and mental health support.

We are currently located at 341-F Bourbong Street, Bundaberg, & 9 Derby Street, Gladstone

COVID-19 Impact

The Haven has been seriously impacted by the COVID19 pandemic and a reduction in funding. We are currently only offering a reduced number of group programs

We are currently restructuring our services, designing new programs and approaches to ensure long-term sustainability and a new way of working to improve outcomes for our client group.
