Stories from the Station

Capturing the stories of the former Bundaberg Fire Station

Current and former staff of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have participated in on oral history project interviewed by Ross Peddlesden and photographed by Selina Ferrais. Bridges initiated this project following the purchase of the station, with a desire to keep the stories of people linked to the station alive as it evolves into a new form of community facility.

Stories of camaraderie and the challenges of facing fires and the rewards of the job are captured through the release of the first 5 stories, available for viewing on our YouTube channel or by visiting the old fire station and scanning the QR Codes for each story.

Thank you to the participants who agreed to share their stories and to QFES for their ongoing support. Bridges are aiming for form a Friends of the Fire Station Facebook Group.

This is a project of Bridges Health & Community Care with support from RADF Bundaberg. The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Bundaberg Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
