The Big Sing - Take 2 Bundy!

Join us at The Big Sing - Take 2 | Tuesday March 4th

Bridges Health & Community Care is excited to bring The Big Sing back to Bundaberg in 2025, promising another uplifting community experience for all.

Led by well-known local musician and choir leader Christie Jacobsen, this year’s Big Sing will take place on Tuesday, March 4th, from 7-9pm at the Shalom Performing Arts Precinct. The event welcomes everyone aged 16 and over—whether you’re an experienced singer or someone who only sings in the shower!

“You don’t need any level of singing experience to join in a community event like this. You don’t need to be able to read music. We will be learning part harmonies to a very well-known song and then coming together at the end to sing as one. It will be an amazing, uplifting experience and a tonne of fun,” said Christie.

The Bundaberg event for 2024 has been rescheduled to this new date, after it’s cancellation due to the passing of Christie’s daughter Isla, tragically on the same day. However, with the feature song being “Lanterns” by Birds of Tokyo, an anthem of resilience and self-determination, paired with Isla’s and Christie’s shared love for the band, “there was no doubt but to embody the spirit of the song and bring the Big Sing back in 2025,” said Christie. The band has endorsed the use of their song to promote positive mental health, aligning perfectly with the event’s focus on wellbeing and connection.

So why is a mental health service organisation like Bridges hosting The Big Sing?

“Our organisation sees participation in arts and culture as essential to wellbeing. We want to provide opportunities for people to engage proactively in their mental health, and singing is an ideal way to do this. The sense of community and connection that happens at The Big Sing is truly inspiring,” said Bridges CEO, Sharon Sarah.

Bridges is delivering this event as part of its commitment to creative wellbeing initiatives, which include transforming the former Bundaberg Fire Station into Precinct 58, a hub for arts, culture, and wellbeing programs.

“The Big Sing is an event for everyone. We’ve had people turn up saying they were dragged along by a friend or partner, only to end the night telling us how much they loved it. The energy in the room is incredible,” said Sharon Sarah.

Tickets are only $10 and available online through Humanitix (link below). Plus limited-edition T-shirts will also be available for $30 to help support Bridges’ creative wellbeing initiatives like the Big Sing. These can be pre-purchased with tickets to be picked up on the night, or available at the event.
