Bridges launches Peer-led Recovery group workshops led by lived-experienced Mental Health practitioner.
In a significant stride toward promoting mental health recovery, Bridges is proud to announce the launch of their new Peer-led Recovery workshops. Spearheaded by Tash Battersby, a dedicated lived-experience mental health practitioner, these workshops are designed to provide a relaxed and safe space for people seeking psychosocial support to connect with others and redesign their identity in their mental wellbeing journey.
Starting July 16th, the workshops will run every two weeks for 1-2 hours, covering a range of evidence-based recovery topics. Participants can look forward to engaging in sessions on anxiety, recovery, change, resilience, stress and depression. Each session aims to offer practical strategies and insights, empowering individuals to navigate their mental health challenges effectively.
Tash Battersby brings a wealth of experience and empathy to the role, having navigated her own mental health journey. Her lived experience, combined with professional expertise, makes her uniquely qualified to lead these workshops. Tash’s approach is rooted in understanding and compassion, fostering an environment where participants feel seen, heard, and supported.
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, peer support programs have shown significant benefits, including reduced hospital admissions and enhanced recovery outcomes. These programs, led by individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, offer unique insights and empathy, fostering a supportive environment that traditional clinical settings might lack. The AIHW report highlights that peer support is a critical component of a comprehensive mental health strategy, emphasizing the value of lived experience in fostering resilience and recovery (AIHW) (AIHW) (AIHW)Â
The power of shared experience cannot be underestimated; knowing that someone else has faced similar struggles and come through them can be a profound source of hope and inspiration.
The structure of these workshops is designed to be flexible and participant-focused. With sessions lasting between one to two hours, attendees have ample time to delve into each topic, share their experiences, and learn from each other. The bi-weekly schedule allows for continuity and ongoing support, which is crucial for sustained recovery.
Bridges is committed to providing resources and support for mental health recovery, recognizing the importance of community and connection in the healing process. The introduction of these Peer-led Recovery workshops is a testament to this commitment, offering a valuable addition to the range of services available to those in need.
Whether you’re at the beginning of your recovery journey or looking for ongoing support, these workshops offer a welcoming and empowering space to explore, learn, and grow.
